New York Hospital To Stop Delivering Babies As Staff Quit Over Vaccine Rules

A hospital in upstate New York will at least temporarily stop delivering babies later this month, after too many employees resigned over a Covid-19 vaccination mandate.

“We are unable to safely staff the service after 24 September,” Gerald Cayer, chief executive of the Lewis County Health System, told reporters.

“The number of resignations received leaves us no choice but to pause delivering babies at Lewis county general hospital.”

Amid alarm over the highly infectious Delta variant and continued evidence that vaccines are both safe and effective, New York state has required healthcare workers to be vaccinated against Covid-19. Read More

Fauci: ‘Vaccinate The Children,’ They Are ‘Vehicles Of Spread’ + More

Speaking to a U.K. audience at a lecture hosted by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine earlier this week, the U.S.′ top infectious disease expert discussed the significance of “long COVID,” the benefits of a move to a three-dose vaccination drive and why he believes it is important to vaccinate children.

“I do believe … that we should vaccinate the children, and there are a number of reasons,” Fauci said on Wednesday.

Firstly, he described young people as “vehicles of spread” for the virus, noting that the transmissibility of the fast-spreading Delta variant continued to fuel a surge in cases as schools re-open for the fall. Read More

Massachusetts Governor Activates National Guard To Help With School Transportation

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker announced Monday he is activating the National Guard to help cities and towns across the commonwealth with school transportation.

The order makes up to 250 personnel available, the governor's office said.

The move, according to the governor's office, comes in response to requests from local communities for assistance with school transportation as the 2021-2022 school year is underway.

Beginning with training on Tuesday, 90 guard members will prepare for service in Chelsea, Lawrence, Lowell and Lynn, the governor's office said.

"We've had conversations with colleagues in municipal governments about the issue with drivers, but nobody was really sure where it was going to land," Baker said. "Once it became clear that there were going to be communities that were shorthanded, wasn't going to be a vehicle issue, but an issue with CDLs, we started talking to the Guard."         Read More

FDA Could Authorize COVID Vaccine For Ages 5‒11 In October

Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine could be authorized for ages 5-11 by the end of October, according to Reuters.

The timeline is based on the expectation that Pfizer will have enough data from clinical trials to request FDA emergency use authorization for the age group near the end of September. Then the FDA would likely make a decision about the vaccine's safety and effectiveness in children within about 3 weeks, two sources told Reuters.

Anthony Fauci, MD, chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, spoke about the timeline during an online town hall meeting Friday, Reuters reported. The meeting was attended by thousands of staff members at the National Institutes of Health.

If Pfizer submits paperwork to the FDA by the end of September, the vaccine could be available for kids around mid-October, Fauci said, and approval for the Moderna vaccine could come in November. Moderna will take about 3 weeks longer to collect and analyze data for ages 5-11. Read More

Bennett Says Israel To Genetically Scan All Arrivals For The Coronavirus

Israel is working on a system to conduct genetic scanning for all those who arrive in the country in order to better identify travelers infected with the coronavirus, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said at a cabinet meeting Sunday.

Bennett told ministers that the system will eventually be deployed at Ben Gurion Airport, the country’s main international terminus.

“We are working on a scanning system for everyone who comes into Israel,” Bennett said, according to comments from the meeting leaked to Hebrew media. “Israel will thus become the radar for the virus.”

No further details about the system or how it would work were reported by Hebrew media. Read More

It May Take 'Many, Many' More Vaccine Mandates To End The Covid-19 Pandemic, Fauci Says

(CNN)Millions of Americans still need to get vaccinated to slow or stop the spread of Covid-19 and getting the pandemic under control could take "many, many" more vaccine mandates, Dr. Anthony Fauci said.

Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said if more people aren't persuaded to get vaccinated by messaging from health officials and "trusted political messengers," additional mandates from schools and businesses may be necessary.
"I believe that's going to turn this around because I don't think people are going to want to not go to work or not go to college ... They're going to do it," Fauci told CNN's Jen Christensen during an interview at the NLGJA, the Association of LGBTQ Journalists, convention Sunday. "You'd like to have them do it on a totally voluntary basis, but if that doesn't work, you've got to go to the alternatives."
The combination of the highly contagious Delta variant and the vaccine holdouts has put the United States in a "very difficult period" of the Covid-19 pandemic, Fauci said. Read More

Julie over 2 years ago

Hi June, I just wanted to share that June 1st my mom was in the hospital basically in a coma. Her heart was 100% blocked. When she woke up 5 days later she had been somewhere that she described as a healing place. She KNEW when she woke up that many here on Planet earth were praying for her. And she told me that in this healing place, many were sick and needed to be prayed for. My mom had some kind of experience where she said she was shown another way of "being" that she didn't know existed ... She seemed to want to be a better person. And she said she needed to pray for all those people in this place. My mom is not a Christian per se. She doesn't "pray." My mom is 78 years old. When she was 21 she had liver cancer and had a near death experience where she went to the other side and God told her, "It's not your time." She was sent back. I was 6 months old. The "Doctors" in 1964 gave my mom a year to live but God has given my mom 57 years. My mom has been a very angry, tormented, caustic person her whole life. She is the most challenging person I ever met. But when she was in the hospital in June many around this World prayed for her. SHE FELT IT. She was humbled for the first time in her life. She knew she had been given another chance. Unfortunately her harsh personality resumed after her healing place experience. I'm not in touch with her right now. But I wanted to share this. God Bless You All ...
